Jesus' Divinity

Is the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society’s teaching of Jesus Biblical?

Below we compare their teachings with the Holy Bible.

The Watchtower Teaches

Jesus was a created being.

“Jesus was called God’s “only-begotten Son” because Jehovah created him directly.

[Knowledge That Leads to Everlasting Life, p.39]

“This Son of God existed before John the Baptist because he had existed in heaven as a spirit son of God.

[Babylon the Great Has Fallen, p.405]

“Jesus lived in heaven as a spirit person before he came to earth. He was God’s first creation.”

[What Does God Require of Us?, p.6]

Jesus is not Almighty God.

“Some religions have removed the key, ignoring Jesus altogether. Others have distorted Jesus’ role worshiping him as Almighty God.”

[Knowledge That Leads to Everlasting Life, p.32]

Clearly, Jesus is not Almighty God.”

[You Can Live Forever in Paradise on Earth, p.40]

Jesus is not the Alpha and Omega.

“The title “Alpha and Omega” applies to Almighty God, the Father, not to the Son.”

[Reasoning From the Scriptures, p.413]

The Bible Teaches

There is only one Almighty Creator God.

I am the LORD, who has made all things, who alone stretched out the heavens, who spread out the earth by myself.

[Isaiah 44:24 NIV]

The sea is his, and he made it: and his hands formed the dry land. O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before the LORD our maker.

[Psalm 33:4 KJV]

The Spirit of God has made me, And the breath of the Almighty gives me life.

[Job 33:4 NASB]

Jesus created all things.

For by him (Jesus) all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.

[Colossians 1:16-17 NIV]

All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being…He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world did not know Him.

[John 1:3, 10 NASB]

The Almighty God is the Alpha and Omega.

I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty.”

[Revelation 1:8 NIV]

He said to me: “It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End… I will be his God and he will be my son.”

[Revelation 21:6, 7 NIV]

The one who is coming soon, the Alpha and Omega, is Jesus.

“Behold, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to everyone according to what he has done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End… I, Jesus, have sent my angel to give you this testimony for the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, and the bright Morning Star.”

[Revelation 22:12-13, 16 NIV]

Behold, I am coming soon!”

[Revelation 22:7 NIV]

He who testifies to these things says, “Yes, I am coming soon.”  Amen. Come, Lord Jesus.

[Revelation 22:20 NIV]

Note:

  1. The Alpha and Omega who is coming, is the Almighty God [cf. Revelation 1:8]

  2. The one who said, I am coming soon,is the Alpha and Omega [cf. Revelation 22:7, 12]

  3. Jesus is the Alpha and Omega who said, I am coming soon.[cf. Revelation 22:16, 20]
